Pirate: a 20-line ship-deck slot with a Pirate Battle bonus

Pirate is set on the deck of a wooden ship, with the rigging on both sides of the reels and open sea behind them. The art is cartoonish: big-nosed pirates with wide grins rather than anything grim.

The crew and the cargo

On the reels in the hero screenshot are a captain in a blue coat holding a spyglass, a pirate with a tankard of beer, a red-bearded pirate hugging a black bomb, and a hook-handed pirate in a black hat. The lower-paying symbols are a blue-and-yellow parrot, a galleon, a red skull-and-crossbones flag, a brass flintlock pistol and a pair of crossed cutlasses. Numbered markers from 1 to 20 run down both sides.

The rules page

The rules screen packs a lot in:

• The hook-handed pirate pays most: 1000 for five, 300 for four, 75 for three and 4 for two.
• The captain pays 800, 200, 50 and 3; the pirate with the tankard 500, 100, 30 and 2; the bomb pirate 400, 80 and 20.
• Parrot 300, galleon 250, flag 200, pistol 150 and cutlasses 100 for five.
• BONUS: a scroll symbol. Three or more anywhere on an active payline start the Pirate Battle bonus game.
• WILD: a gold coin that appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 and substitutes for any symbol except BONUS.
• BOMB WILD: appears on reel 3 and can randomly change the symbols next to a WILD into wilds.

A small JACKPOT BET table says a minimum bet of 50 qualifies for 50 per cent of the jackpot and 100 for the full amount. The 20 line patterns are drawn along the bottom.

Bet panel and jackpots

GRAND, MAJOR, MINOR and MINI counters sit above the reels; GRAND was over 262,000 in our captures. The bottom bar reads LINES 20, PLAY 5, TOTAL PLAY 100. That is the jackpot threshold, and it also means each spin costs 100 credits, a lot faster than a 9-line game at the same bet.

What we could not see
