NTC33 explained: the Newtown Casino app, its slots and how IDs work

NTC33 is the name Malaysian agents use for Newtown Casino, one of the older app casinos in the market. It is best known for two things: live dealer tables streamed from a studio, and a slot library that is noticeably different from the 918Kiss and Mega888 style. The slots have their own look, many of them carry film or brand licences, and several are titles that also turn up elsewhere under Playtech's name.

This page goes through what NTC33 looks like, based on the game screenshots we have, how its apps are split, and how an agent-issued ID works in ringgit. The individual games have their own pages in the NTC33 game list.

Two versions of the slot menu

Every NTC33 slot we have seen opens full screen with a thin menu bar across the top. There are two versions of it.

The older bar starts with GAMES and then lists SLOTS, TABLE & CARDS, ARCADE, SCRATCH and LIVE DEALERS, with a sound icon and a spanner for settings on the right. Tapping it slides a row of game icons down over the current game, so you can switch titles without going back to a lobby. Tres Amigos has a screenshot of that menu open.

The newer bar reads Games, New Games, Classic Slots, Video Slots, Table Games and Progressive Games. The games in this style, such as White King, Wild Gambler and Wu Long, are wider and have larger, more modern bet panels.

What kinds of slots there are

The range is wide, from very simple to fairly busy.

Three-reel classics

At the simple end are three-reel games with the paytable printed right on screen. Tres Amigos has one payline and a one-or-two-coin table. Triple Monkey has five lines and a column of prizes from 5 to 300. Vacation Station uses a 3x3 grid with eight lines that run across, down and diagonally.

Five-reel line slots

Most titles are five-reel games with 15 to 40 lines. They share one panel design: a coin value, a SPINS counter for autoplay, LINES, LINE BET, TOTAL BET and WIN along the top, and INFO, AUTO START, LINES, BET PER LINE, BET MAX and SPIN below. Once you know that panel from True Love or Wild Spirit, you know it for all of them. The one habit worth building is to read TOTAL BET, not LINE BET, before you spin.

Games with a twist

A few titles do something unusual. Ugga Bugga plays ten sets of three reels at once with a hold step in the middle. Wild Gambler lets you pay a higher stake to lock wilds on the reels before a spin. Wu Lu Cai Shen has five jackpot boxes, one per coloured god of wealth, and the amounts shown change with your bet.

Licensed themes

Some slots are built on outside brands: Top Gun uses the film's characters and Top Trumps Celebs uses photos of real celebrities. We do not show screenshots of those two, because they depict real people.

Live dealer tables

LIVE DEALERS is a tab in the slot menu, and the old page's main selling point was the live casino: baccarat, roulette, blackjack and similar tables with a real dealer on a video stream. We have no live-table screenshots to describe. If live games are what you want, roulette and sic bo are explained in our dice and roulette basics. A real dealer does not change the odds of the game; the house edge is built into the table rules.

The old page also said NTC33 had "more than 100" slots. We could not check that number, and the line-up changes over time.

Apps and installation

NTC33 is not in Google Play or the App Store. On Android it has historically come as two separate APKs, one for slots and one for live games, and there was also a Windows build for PC. How an NTC33 ID works

• An agent creates your ID and gives you a username and password.
• You pay the agent in ringgit, and they add the same value in credit to your ID.
• You play; the balance moves with each bet, shown in RM (a few games label it MYR).
• To withdraw ("cuci"), you ask the agent, who removes the credit and pays you.

The app only records credit. The money itself passes through the agent, which makes the agent the part you need to trust. Our guide to spotting bad agents and scams lists the warning signs. If you still want an ID, you can get an NTC33 game ID through the provider this site works with.

Checks before you play

• Log in before you pay, and check that the balance is zero.
• Ask how long a cuci usually takes and whether any bonus comes with a turnover rule.
• Open INFO or the paytable in a game before you raise the bet.
• Keep autoplay counts low; a SPINS counter of 10 at RM2 a spin is RM20.

Keep it in proportion

Slots and live tables are both built to take a little more than they pay back over time. You must be 18 or over, and online gambling is restricted in Malaysia, with no local licence behind these apps.
